We Are Nature VII

Since We Are Nature began in 2010, this project has become something much deeper than a simple series of photographs. It has become an ongoing exploration of our profound connection to nature, but also a deeply personal journey for me as an artist and as a person. Over the years, this project has evolved, yet it’s never felt like something I could easily conclude. Creating these images, each blending humanity and nature into a single entity, has become a way for me to process and reflect on both the world around me and my own experiences.

In this latest chapter, the theme of childhood has emerged as a central focus, inspired by my children. Watching them grow and discover the world has been a mirror to my past, drawing me back to memories of my childhood. Through them, I am reminded of the purity and raw connection to nature we often lose as adults. This shift in perspective has brought fresh energy to the project, allowing me to explore these themes of innocence, curiosity, and the natural world with new depth.

As with previous work, nature remains a vital part of each image—not merely as a setting but as an active participant. The trees, landscapes, and textures intertwine with the figures, forming a narrative that speaks to our inextricable bond with the earth. This time, all images were created in-camera using multiple exposure techniques, preserving the authenticity of these fleeting moments as they naturally unfold.

We Are Nature has been a journey of discovery, not just in terms of photography, but also in understanding how we, as humans, are intertwined with the natural world—and how these moments of connection can be captured, preserved, and celebrated.
